Free Math Calculators With Steps
These free math calculators solve common homework and everyday problems and show each step, so the method can be checked and learned rather than just copied. They cover number theory (factors, LCM, GCF), statistics (mean, median, mode, standard deviation), algebra (quadratic formula), geometry (area) and conversions.

Math terms explained
Glossary โ- Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
- The greatest common factor (GCF) of two or more positive integers is the largest whole number that divides each of them with no remainder; it is also called the GCD or HCF.
- Least Common Multiple (LCM)
- The least common multiple (LCM) of two or more positive integers is the smallest positive number that each of them divides into evenly; it gives the lowest common denominator.
- Standard Deviation
- Standard deviation is a measure of spread equal to the square root of the variance; it shows how far values typically fall from the mean, in the same units as the data.
- Variance
- Variance is a measure of spread equal to the average squared distance of values from their mean; its square root is the standard deviation, and it is expressed in squared units.
Frequently asked questions
Do the math calculators show the steps?
Yes. Wherever a method has steps, such as prime factorization for the GCF or deviations from the mean for standard deviation, the working is shown below the answer.
What is the difference between sample and population standard deviation?
Population standard deviation divides the sum of squared deviations by n; sample standard deviation divides by n โ 1 to correct for estimating the mean from the same data. The standard deviation calculator shows both.
Can I use these calculators on a phone?
Yes. Every calculator works on phones, tablets and computers without installing anything.
