Merge PDF
Combine several PDFs into one, in the order you choose. Merged by a PDF library in your browser; your files are never uploaded.
How to merge PDF files here
Drop two or more PDFs above. Each one is read in your browser as soon as it lands, so you immediately see its page count and, if it is password-protected or damaged, a clear message before you waste a click. Put the files in order with the arrows, give the result a name, and click Merge. The tool copies every page of every file, in that order, into one new document and hands it back as a download. To merge PDF files this way you do not upload anything: the PDF library runs inside your tab, which is also why there is no file limit, no queue and no watermark.
Pages come across with their fonts, images, links and form fields. Document-level bookmarks (the outline panel) are not carried over, because they belong to the original file rather than to its pages. The merged file is a fresh PDF, so viewer quirks and leftover edit history from the originals do not carry over.
Worked example
A job application wants one PDF: cover letter (1 page, 60 KB), resume (2 pages, 180 KB) and three certificates (1 page each, about 400 KB apiece as scans). Drop all five, move the cover letter to the top and the resume second, name it application.pdf and merge. The result is a 6-page PDF of roughly 1.4 MB, which is the sum of its parts plus a few kilobytes of structure. Before you send it, run the resume through the ATS resume checker; merged scans are fine for a human reader, but applicant tracking systems can only read the text pages.
Order, size and quality
The merged file keeps every page at its original size, so a letter-size resume followed by an A4 certificate followed by a phone-photo scan at 3024 ร 4032 points produces a document whose pages change shape as you scroll. That is normal and most viewers handle it, but if you want uniform pages, convert the images first with the Image to PDF converter set to Letter or A4. Merging is lossless: no page is re-rendered or re-compressed, so the quality is exactly what went in. Size is close to additive; when several inputs embed the same font, the merged file carries a copy from each, which can add a few hundred kilobytes.
Files that will not merge
- Password-protected PDFs. An encrypted file is reported as soon as it is dropped. Open it with the password in your viewer, use Print โ Save as PDF to make an unlocked copy, and add that instead.
- Damaged or mislabeled files. "Doesn't look like a valid PDF" usually means a truncated download or a Word file renamed to .pdf. Re-export it from the source application.
- Very large scans. Files over 50 MB are allowed but can exhaust memory on phones. Split the work into two merges, or reduce the scan resolution first.
Privacy
Contracts, medical records, tax forms and ID scans are the documents people merge most, and they are the last thing that should be uploaded to a stranger's server. Everything on this page runs in your browser. Load it, disconnect from the internet, and it still works. When you close the tab, the files are gone. Need the opposite operation? Split PDF pulls pages back out, with the same no-upload guarantee.
Frequently asked questions
โบHow do I merge PDF files without uploading them?
Drop two or more PDFs on this page, arrange them with the arrows and click Merge. The pages are copied into a new document by a library running in your browser, and you download the result. Nothing is sent to a server.
โบDoes merging change the quality or page size?
No. Each page is copied as-is with its fonts, images and links, at its original size. A letter-size page followed by an A4 page stays that way.
โบIs there a limit on the number or size of files?
No fixed limit. Files over 50 MB get a warning because everything is held in your device's memory; on a desktop, hundreds of pages are fine.
โบWhy does one of my files show an error?
It is either password-protected or not a valid PDF. Unlock it in your viewer (Print โ Save as PDF) or re-export it, then add it again. Merging is disabled until every file in the list reads correctly.
โบCan I change the order after adding files?
Yes. Use the up and down arrows next to each file; the merged PDF follows the list from top to bottom.
